What to do when your “To Read” pile is empty.

Ok Comic geeks,

Recently I found my self in a kind of strange predicament. I work up and saw that my pile of comics that I needed to read was kind of big. This is not that big of a susprise to me because there are lots of comics that I really like reading in runs more than reading as issues. The way that I see it there are just some stories that work better if I read them all in one sitting, rather than reading them 22-32 pages per month (or in the case of The Ultimates every three months.) You know what I mean?

Anyway, a few days ago it looked to me like it was time to kill the “to read” pile, and that is exactly what I did. It took me about 2.5 hours to read everything in my pile (I took a few breaks to check email and stuff like that). However, when I was done I was in a comic reading mood. I wanted to read more comics. This was a bit of a problem for me though for a few reasons.

1. I did not have spare cash to go buy a trade paper back.
2. I honetly could not find something that I wanted to re-read… which does not normally happen to me. I’m one of those people who is constantly re-reading something.

I sat back and thought about it for a bit. What was a comic book geek to do? This is what I came up with(and did) and I figure that it might be something that could help out you (the reader) if you ever find your self in a similar situation.

I read web comics.

I know that must seem like a no brainer to some, but I kind of get the impression from some people that many readers of print comics just don’t bother with web comics. I’d even go so far as to say that many readers of print comics look down on web comics. Maybe they read one bad web comic (and there are many of those) but that certinaly does not mean that all web comics are bad.

The web comic that I choose to read when my “to read” stack was gone was Apple Geeks. I love this comic for so many reasons but the four main ones are…

1. the art is AMAZING (notice that is amazing in all caps.)
2. it is damn funny.
3. it is totally free to read. (you can not beat free.)
4. I’m a total apple geek my self. (and even if your a PC person this comic still rocks.)

Don’t believe me just take a look at some of the AMAZING art work for your self.

Side note: you can download all the images above and use them as desktops, but you have to to to Apple Geeks to get them :)
