Today on the Comicology Podcast:
1. I listened to the last show, and I hated it. I talked way to fast. Thus my goal for episode 2 was to talk much slower, but not too slow. I hope that I was able to achieve this.
2. I talk about how the iPad and a program called LongBox Digital (which has not yet been released) could really become one hell of a combo.

Here is my idea in a nutshell — iTunes and the iPod had a huge impact on the sale and distribution of music. The reason for this is as follows.
a. The iPod was a portable device that let people carry around lots of music with ease.
b. The iTunes music store was a place where people could buy music in a digital formate (which was not as good as CD quality music) at a very low cost.
c. The iTunes application did not limit people to the music they bought from the iTunes music store. People could take music they had all ready acquired and and import that to iTunes and their iPods.
I personally believe that the program LongBox Digital might be to comics what iTunes was to music.
Here are some screen shots that the folks over and CBR were able to provide in their write up of LongBox.

This will mean some bad things could happen to the brick and mortar comic shops… Which is kind of sad to someone like me who has “grown up” going to comic shops. But technology is progressing, and kids who have grown up with the internet, iPods, cell phones, and PlayStation are going to need to keep buying comic books if the industry is going to survive at all.
How are those (lucky) techno-kids of today going to buy comics? Online in a digital format.
Agree? Disagree? Want to tell me that I’m awesome, or that you hate me so much your going to track me down and punch me in the face? I want to hear from you!
